Our Story

The LexCare Hearing Foundation (formerly Songs for Sound) has a renewed mission for 2025: ensuring no one lives without the ability to hear and connect with the world. This passion was born from one family’s life-changing journey. When Lexi, the founder’s daughter, was just 14 months old, her family discovered she was profoundly deaf. After enduring a year and a half of misinformation and "just wait" advice, Lexi was finally diagnosed. Four months later, she received the life-altering gift of hearing through bilateral cochlear implants at The Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center. This experience revealed the immense gaps in awareness, access, and care for hearing loss—and sparked a movement.

Motivated by Lexi’s journey, her mother, Jaime Motes, established the foundation in 2011 to help others facing similar challenges, particularly veterans, seniors, children, and underserved communities. With 80-90% of individuals who could benefit from hearing technology not seeking help, the mission became clear: to break down barriers, educate, and inspire action for better hearing health.

Since its inception, the LexCare Hearing Foundation has provided over 33,000 free hearing screenings, developed a dedicated Care Team, and offered free hearing health dashboards to guide individuals in navigating care. The foundation’s vision for 2025 includes expanding its global reach, building better hearing health systems, and continuing to meet people where they are—offering free hearing screenings, compassionate guidance, and access to quality, affordable care.

What began as a personal mission for one little girl has grown into a worldwide effort to ensure no one is left without the chance to hear. As the foundation evolves, its commitment to changing lives through hearing health remains steadfast.

After the pandemic, outreach charities like Songs for Sound faced devastating revenue losses. At the same time, our founder recognized the need to amplify our impact by offering more online resources. This inspired her to create a social enterprise that not only expanded our reach but also provided sustainable support for the charity. Learn more at LexCare Hearing. HERE

This transformation led to a full rebrand and name change: LexCare Hearing and The LexCare Hearing Foundation.
