Understanding Hearing Health, Hearing Loss

By the Numbers

Hearing loss affects over 48 million Americans—yet nearly 80–90% go untreated. The consequences reach far beyond sound: increased risk of depression, cognitive decline, social isolation, and lost opportunities for connection.

What's My Number?

At LexCare, we use a simple Hearing Health Profile rated 1–4 to understand where you are on your journey to better hearing. It’s more than just test results—we look at your comfort level, knowledge, and the support you need. Most people go without help because no one takes the time to guide them. That’s what we’re here for. It's our MISSION.

Symptoms

Common signs of hearing loss include asking others to repeat themselves, turning up the TV louder than others prefer, struggling to hear in noisy places, or feeling isolated in conversations. If these sound familiar, it may be time to take the next step toward better hearing.

Types of Hearing Loss, Causes & Treatments

Hearing loss can be sensorineural (inner ear), conductive (outer or middle ear), or mixed. It may be caused by age, noise exposure, injury, illness, or genetics. The good news? Many types can be treated with hearing aids, implants, or medical care—often changing lives in the process.

Hearing Loss Prevention

Hearing loss can often be prevented by protecting your ears from loud noise, avoiding prolonged headphone use at high volumes, and treating infections or medical issues early. Regular hearing checkups are key to catching changes before they become bigger problems.

At LexCare, we believe in connecting you to care you can trust. That’s why we partner with experienced hearing professionals, leading technology providers, respected clinics and non-profit organizations across the country.
