For over a decade, LexCare Hearing Foundation has worked tirelessly to connect with the 80-90% of people with hearing loss who never receive the help they need. Through our Hearoes Tour and national outreach efforts, we’ve conducted over 33,000 hearing screenings and hosted more than 1,000 free hearing health events. Our mission focuses on identifying and addressing the biggest barriers that prevent individuals from accessing essential hearing healthcare.
The Silent Crisis: Why So Many Go Without Help
Our comprehensive research highlights that the vast majority of those with hearing loss do not seek treatment. This is often due to a few key reasons:
Lack of Awareness - Many people are unaware they have hearing loss until it significantly impacts their daily lives.
Financial Barriers - The high costs associated with hearing aids, cochlear implants, and audiology services can deter individuals from seeking help.
Navigating a Complicated System - The process of finding the right healthcare provider, understanding insurance coverage, and accessing appropriate treatment can be daunting.
Limited Local Resources - In many areas, there are insufficient hearing healthcare services available to meet the community's needs.
Understanding the Impact of Hearing Loss
Hearing loss is a growing public health concern. It affects not only the individuals but also their families and communities. The inability to hear clearly can lead to misunderstandings and strained relationships. It often results in social isolation, which can exacerbate mental health issues. Addressing hearing loss is about more than just hearing; it is about enhancing the quality of life.
How We Identify & Guide People to Care
To assist more individuals in taking charge of their hearing health, we have created a comprehensive screening and support system:
Hearing Screenings & Hearing Health Profile Questionnaires - We systematically evaluate each individual's hearing ability and unique challenges. This helps us tailor a personalized plan for them.
Onsite Guidance at Hearoes Tour Events - During our mobile hearing health stops, our dedicated team provides one-on-one consultations, insurance guidance, and direct support in connecting individuals with local providers.
Follow-Up With Our Care Team - After an initial consultation, our dedicated team continues to support individuals. We assist them in navigating appointments, insurance reviews, and treatment options to ensure they receive the care they require.
Expanding Our Impact: The 10th Annual Hearoes Tour & Hearoes Days
As part of our commitment to reaching more people, we are excited to announce nearly 200+ stops planned for the 10th Annual Hearoes Tour. Additionally, we are introducing Hearoes Days—community-wide hearing festivals. These events are designed to:
Bring the latest hearing technology, expert clinicians, and critical information directly to local communities.
Provide free hearing screenings and vital hearing health resources that everyone can access.
Celebrate the importance of hearing through music, community events, and family-friendly activities.
Breaking Barriers & Changing Lives
Hearing loss impacts various aspects of life. It directly affects connection, communication, and overall quality of life. If left untreated, hearing loss can lead to social isolation, cognitive decline, and missed opportunities. Therefore, we are fully committed to removing barriers and guiding individuals toward life-changing hearing solutions.
The severity of hearing loss can create significant hurdles to accessing care. However, through collective efforts, we can dismantle these barriers and provide much-needed hearing healthcare to all who need it.
